Congrats Graduation Card

Another graduation card.  The sweet girl this is for loves to go deer hunting with her dad so I couldn't resist doing something with a deer.  I used the Tim Holtz die, cut the deer from grungeboard and inked it with Distress ink.  The hat is one of the dies from the crazy bird accessories pack.  I cut it from both black and red so I could make the tassel red.  Congrats is cut using the A Way With Words Elizabeth Craft Designs' die.  The black and white dotted piece is washi tape.

Congrats - Graduation Card

I love how this card came out!!!  The leafy background is Grunge Paste (PaperArtsy) through a stencil (The Crafter's Workshop).  The pasting was actually done a long time ago while doing some other pasting and then it went into the "use this one day" pile.  I trimmed the piece to the size I wanted and sprayed it with Distress Spray Stains (Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron).  Once dry I highlighted the texture with Treasure Gold Green Amber.  The bird (Tim Holtz) was stamped onto Mixed Media Paper, cut out using the matching die and colored with Distress and a Water Brush. There is also a little bit of white gel pen used on the wings.  Congrats is cut with an A Way With Words die (Elizabeth Craft Designs).  The scripture (Our Daily Bread Designs) is stamped with Archival Ink Jet Black and die cut with a Stitched Oval die (Elizabeth Craft Designs).

Happy Birthday Card - Summer of Creative Chemistry 2016

Hello!!!  I really like how this birthday card came out!!!  The flower (Tim Holtz) uses the Brushless Watercolor Technique on Ranger's Watercolor Paper from Week 1 of the Summer of Creative Chemistry over at Online Card Classes.  The background (Tim Holtz) uses the Perfect Distress Technique (Distress Inks cracked pistachio, mowed lawn, wild honey - Perfect Pearls perfect gold) on Manila Cardstock from Week 3. The right edge has been torn and embossed with gold powder.  The other 3 edges are distressed and there a piece of lace along the left edge.  The folded card is a deep brown, not black.  The flower panel is die cut using Stitched Ovals die (Elizabeth Craft Designs) but I used an oval too large for my paper and just cut around the top and the bottom corners.  I didn't get the bottom corners exactly lined up with each other but hopefully the twine somewhat masks that :-)  There is Distress Ink Walnut Stain sponged around the edges.  Happy Birthday (Quietfire Design) is stamped on Manila Card with Archival Ink Potting Soil, cut out and edges inked with Distress Ink Mowed Lawn.

Card - Summer of Creative Chemistry 2016 - Life

Hey!!!  I'm so glad you've stopped by (or are reading this in an email)!!!!

This is Week 3 of the Summer of Creative Chemistry over at Online Card Classes and so far I'm keeping up.  Now, I haven't tried every single technique that's been mentioned but I have been getting something done for each challenge.  This weeks challenge is to use Perfect Pearls and Distress Inks or Stains.  I've also used Distress Spray Stains and Perfect Pearls Mists.

I began with a piece of Ranger's Watercolor Paper adding Texture Paste Matte through a Stencil Girl stencil (the large one from the May Stencil Club package).  The large gears in the background are cut from Grungeboard using the Tim Holtz Gadget Gears die.  These were pressed on while the texture paste was still wet and also the circles from the center of the die cuts.  I then sprayed it heavily with Distress Spray Stains (ripe persimmon, gathered twigs, wild honey) and Perfect Pearls Mist (sunflower sparkle, mandarin, perfect copper) and dry it.  LOVE it!!!  The doily (Tim Holtz die) was cut from Ranger's Mixed Media paper.  I tore it in half, rubbed the Distress Ink Antique Linen pad over it coloring it fairly well, brushed on Perfect Pearls Powder (Perfect Pearls color) and then sprayed it with water to set the powder.  Also LOVE how this came out.  I bent it a bit back and forth to give it dimension.  The strip of paper that goes across the card along the top of the doily uses the Perfect Distress Technique inking the flourish image with Carved Pumpkin and then brushing on Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls.  The flower was cut from Ranger's Watercolor Paper and from Black Cardstock.  The watercolor flower was sprayed with water and then Carved Pumpkin Distress Marker used for a bit of color.  The words were stamped onto a scrap Mixed Media Paper with Archival Ink Jet Black.  I did take the carved pumpkin ink blending tool and just using whatever ink was left on rubbed here and there over the words for just a touch of color.  Cut the lines of the quote apart, glued them to black cardstock, cut them out and added them as shown.  I've also used various sizes of Tim's Idea-ology gears.

This Life Is Pretty Amazing Art Journal Page

Hi There!!!  I've got a couple things going on here.  First I was inspired by some videos by Marta of Maremi SmallArt.  Second, I was also watching the Week 2 videos from The Summer of Creative Chemistry at Online Card Classes and wanted to include some of that also especially using Distress Stains and Stamping for the Week 2 Challenge.  I did take a few pictures as I worked.

This first picture shows my little scrap box and I've pulled out some things to use.

I attached strips and pieces to some Ranger Watercolor Paper using Collage Medium Matte and then did a light coat of gesso.

Next I brought out the Distress Stains and a spray bottle with water.  Doesn't it look great!!!

Ok, a few things.  I didn't keep track of the exact colors of stain but I did also include a metallic, the brushed pewter.  I used a heat tool to dry as I worked and then when I decided it was done... the problem was it wouldn't dry completely.  I used the heat tool A LOT and I even left it sit.  I'll need to experiment further to see if it's because they're over gesso or just what it was.  At one point I even took a dry paper towel and lightly wiped over it at which point I lots the pretty drips, but that was ok.  I eventually sprayed it with Workable Fixative and then continued on.

I used Distress Crayons and also a little bit of Stabilo All pencil on the background.  For the tag I did the marbled stains technique, stamped the quote with Jet Black Archival, tore the tag, stamped the flourish with Watering Can Archival, inked the edges with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and used a white gel pen in the flourishes.  The butterfly was stamped with Jet Black and inked with Distress Ink Squeezed Lemonade and Picked Raspberry and cut out.  .

All put together.  The Tim Holtz doily is cut from plain Tissue Wrap and then some Picket Fence Distress Stain brushed over it.  Stamped Flourishes again.  Some Matte circle things and some blending of color around them.  Finally

Circle Journal #3

This is my page in Hazel's Journal, front and then back.  Again, and I know I say this with every journal but it's true, I had lots of fun working on this.  I just love getting the next journal in the mail and seeing how it was made and what's been done so far!!!  All the pages for people to create in Hazel's were different and we get to choose whichever one we want to use.  I flipped through the pages 3 times before I could choose which one, LOL!!  Fun, fun, fun!!!

On this side of the paper, the partial image that I've colored red in the bottom left corner was already there.  I could tell it was a PaperArtsy Sara Naumann image that I have so I got out those, and other Sara stamps, and began.  I stamped the circle image around the page.  I painted in the partial heart image with, I think, Cherry Red and the circles with White Fire Fresco Finish Paint just using my finger.  Next I stamped the script with White Fire.  Then out came the Infusions!! Oh, these are so much fun!!! I blotted most of the infusions off the metallic circles but not all of it and dried it.  Next I stamped the heart image on another paper, painted it with my finger and cut it out.  I wasn't sure how I wanted to proceed on this page so I flipped it over and started the second page (explained below).  When I came back to this side, I next stamped the new little love image from the Quietfire Design Jewelry Words Set of Stamps in each of the circles.  The hearts were glued on with Ranger's Collage Medium Matte.  I painted around the hearts with Snowflake Fresco Finish Paint by putting a little paint on my brush, setting the brush up against the heart and brushing outward in small strokes.  When that was done and dry I used a black All-Stabilo pencil around the eharts and blended it with a water brush.  I stamped the words on a scrap of white, cut them out, edged them and blued them on.  Finally I added dots of White Fire on the hearts and painted the scallops at the bottom with White Fire.

With my Sara stamps out, I decided to just continue using them on this page.  First I used Infusions on the paper sprinkling them on, adding water, and then lightly brushing in vertical lines.  The leaves were stamped with Archival Ink Watering Can and colored in with markers.  I drew the black scallops along the bottom with a Pitt Pen and then colored them in with Gel Pens in pastel colors.  The bird was stamped directly on the background and again on white card.  I cut the main bird from the paper, colored it and glued it over the bird on the paper.  Over the eye I added a drop of Glossy Accents.  The All-Stabilo pencil was used around the bird.  The words were stamped and embossed and then yellow ink was added in that area to just make them pop more.  Little pink flowers with Liquid Pearl drops in the center and an idea-ology word band with ribbon tied on finish it off.

Happy Birthday Tag - Creative Chemistry Summer 2016 - Dimensional Flowers

Happy Tuesday!!!  It's a very exciting, somewhat nervous day today as I will be teaching a class for the first time at Memory Bound store in Ankeny.  The focus of the class is dimensional flowers on cards/tags.  This tag is going with me as an extra sample.  One of the flowers we are learning today is the pansy.

However, the tag itself began with inspiration from The Summer of Creative Chemistry over at Online Card Classes.    Way back when it was first offered I signed up for Creative Chemistry 101 but didn't manage the time to actually participate.  So far I've managed the first week of Summer 2016 Creative Chemistry and hopefully I'll keep up all summer with 101, 102, and then 103.

The challenge with Week 1 was to use 4 or more colors of Distress to creative something with a technique from class.  I've used the colors Squeezed Lemonade, Shaded Lilac, Abandoned Coral, and Cracked Pistachio and the technique Wrinkle Free Distress as the first layer on this Ranger #8 tag.  I'm so sorry I didn't take a picture at that point because it looked fab!!!  Over that I've used a Tim Holtz stencil along with Shaded Lilac Distress Paint.  Next I die cut the bricks, colored another tag with Cracked Pistachio Distress Stain, and glued the tags together.  I then glued some of the bricks back in, just because.

Happy Birthday is a Quietfire Design stamp and I've stamped it with Archival Ink Jet Black.  The Pansy Flower is an Elizabeth Craft Designs die set.  I cut all the pieces from Ranger's Watercolor paper and added color with Distress Markers and Stain.  Shaped the pieces, glued them to the tag and added a sticky back gem to the center of the flower.  Some 1/8" yellow, satin, ribbon finishes it off.

Birthday Card

Happy Friday!!!  Are you looking forward to the weekend!!  We have a graduation party to attend on Saturday for our very good friend's youngest child.
It's also my step-daughters birthday on Saturday  and this is the card I made for her.  The background is white cardstock sponged with Distress Ink Cracked Pistachio... I Love this color!!!... and then flicked with water, blotted and dried.    The doily and flower are both Sizzix Tim Holtz dies.  They were both cut from white cardstock.  The doily was left white, trimmed along the right side and glued to the card with Collage Medium Matte (Ranger).  The pink on the flower is Distress Paint Picked Raspberry.  The green is Distress Marker Mowed Lawn.  There is also a little shimmer on the flower done with Wink of Stella Gl. Clear.  That wonderful happy birthday is a Quietfire Design image from THIS set stamped with Archival Ink Magenta Hue (Ranger), cut as shown, the edges sponged with Magenta Hue and it's attached with foam tape.

Paula Cheney Classes

Way back in April Paula Cheney came to Memory Bound in Ankeny to teach 4 classes and I was very blessed to be able to take all 4 of them.  She also brought a friend with her, Richele Christensen.  The picture above is Paula, me, and Richele.

Paula is a wonderful teacher and I loved every class!!  I had also taken classes Paula taught the year before at Memory Bound (that post is Here) and was happy to sign up and take more this year.

Paula talking about Collage Medium.

Richele and Paula!!

Richele sat down behind me for a short break and to Instagram so I snapped a picture (isn't her smile beautiful!!!) to put on Instagram.

Before a class.  Richele is talking to Kellie, one of the owners of Memory Bound, and Paula is talking to students.

And now for project pictures.  Some things I was able to finish in class and others I finished at home.  I'm not going to talk about the projects but I would definitely encourage anyone to take Paula's classes if you can.
